Our Employees

Who are our employees? The obvious answer to that question is the wonderful women in Africa, who spend what spare time they have from their daily lives, to gather, process, dye and weave these wonderful works of art. Without them this business would not exist. Each time we open a shipment box and the smell of the grass fills the air, we are constantly amazed at the craft itself, the quality, and the seemingly endless designs and spectrum of colors. From Uganda to the Swazi and Zulu people of South Africa; this is who our employees are. We here in the US are just the shippers to you. We thank them all.

Our Company

Our interest in the art of African baskets came during travel in Africa. The link for the non-profit arm of the business came after living in Africa and seeing the opportunity to help. This is an online store, although we have booths at large trade-shows and conventions. Our aim is to promote the art of the basket, raise awareness of the needs of families, and assist their economy and opportunities through the purchase and sale of these incredible items. By your purchase you are part of our dream. We adhere to Fair Trade and the policies against child labour and other unfair trade practices. Endegi does purchase from the Zulus, tiny imperfect baskets which little girls are learning to weave, from their mothers and grandmothers, as a means of continuing their traditional craft. At no time however are the girls not attending school, nor being forced into any discriminatory child labor.
