Please contact us if you have a special request. The baskets are one of a kind, so keep this in mind if you are requesting

Uganda Colored Millet Basket
We import from a women's weaving cooperative in the Southern highlands of Uganda. These baskets vary in sizes but most in
the 9"diameter x 6" H range. It is a natural straw basket perfect for storing items woven with millet straw. We
have many different color combinations. One pictured which looks like black has also a dark blue in the design Email us or

Uganda Flat Basket 12" diam x 2" H
These beautiful handwoven baskets are from Southern Uganda. They are handwoven by a women in a remote village, who support
their families by selling one of a kind handicrafts. We purchase directly from the women's cooperative. The colors of these

Singida is one of the poorest regions in Tanzania. Located near the center of the country. A traditional town with Wanyaturu
as its main ethnic group. The beautiful well made baskets display a unique design of natural color of the grass being predominant
and making them easily identifiable. 8.5"diam x 4.5"High.

These baskets have a slightly open weave and are very durable and can be used for such things a rinsing berries, and storing
items as well as display. They come in multitudes of design and color. Call if you have a specific color in mind. These baskets
is 8" diameter and 3"H.

The baskets are woven from discarded telephone wire. The wire is gathered, then un-twisted,sorted into colors and washed
prior to weaving the baskets around a form. It is a uniquely South African craft and thought to have originated when night
watchmen needed something to do while at work.

These recycled telephone wire baskets were produced in Zululand South Africa, and are the not only beautiful but useful. The
three different sizes pictured here carry the red, black and white color scheme. Weaving for the Zulus is often the only
means of income and they take great pride in their product. The small one is 4" diam. $20, Medium 5.5" diam $25
and the large is 8" diam. $45. A contemporary spin in basket weaving which has become an art by itself in South Africa.

Singida is one of the poorest regions in Tanzania located near the center of the country. The townswomen are known for creating
beautiful well made baskets with striking purple, pink and green designs on natural bases. This beautiful large basket has
a newly adapted oversew design incorporated in the natural grass, and is rimmed with the purple and green which makes Singida
baskets easily identifiable. 11.25"diam x 6.5"Hx 35"diameter. A very nice quality, sturdy basket.
